OHT Donates to Armed Services YMCA Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA

Operation Hat Trick is pleased to announce its recent $10,000 donation to the Armed Services YMCA at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

During the annual Collegiate Licensing Seminar 15 Licensing Directors from schools across the country toured the Naval Medical Center to see first hand what the needs were for the unique challenges of military life, particularly for those who have been wounded. Naval Medical Center Armed Services YMCA meets the current needs of wounded warriors (and their families) by providing: emergency financial assistance, childcare, skill building classes, medevac family support, clothing, amputee peer meetings, therapeutic recreation, rehab equipment, therapy dogs, caregiver support, lodging and flights to unite families.

For over 30 years Armed Services YMCA has been a part of Naval Medical Center’s continuum of care and support for active duty military and their families. Integrity and good stewardship has earned the Armed Services YMCA a 4 star rating on Charity Navigator – an accomplishment that sets them apart from all other non-profits who support wounded warriors.

According to Dot Sheehan, Operation Hat Trick’s Founder and President, “We are very happy to be able to give to Armed Services YMCA Naval Medical Center. OHT carefully selects organizations that support its mission of generating awareness, support and funding for wounded service members and veterans so those who need the most assistance get it and the Armed Services YMCA Naval Medical Center is one such organization.”

“Thanks to 230 colleges across the country; 60 Minor League Baseball teams, ECHL teams; Lids; Kohl’s; Barnes & Noble & Follett and many more organizations pending, Operation Hat Trick is in a position to be able to spread its donations over several worthy organizations. A portion of each OHT hat sale is donated as directly as possible and we are very excited that OHT is developing a collection of apparel and non-apparel and adding new licensees. Imagine how many wounded service members and veterans we can help,” says Sheehan.

Says Cherri Barnswell, Senior Director of Armed Services YMCA, Naval Medical Center, “Our sincere appreciation to Dot Sheehan for spearheading the effort along with all the colleges who market the ball caps in support of Operation Hat Trick’s philanthropic work to better the lives of wounded warriors. We can’t thank you enough.”

“It is critical that we give back to those who have served our country so valiantly and have afforded us our freedom,” says Sheehan. “Now with the extensive injuries so many have and the long road to recovery ahead of them, it’s our turn to do the right thing.”
