A Hat for One of Our Nation's Heroes

Operation Hat Trick has reached the front lines. Currently on his second tour in Afghanistan, Sergeant Dylan Matthew Pierce, one of our nation’s unsung heroes, proudly wore a camo Notre Dame University OHT hat that was sent to him by close friend, Abby O’Donnell.

A native of Belleville, Illinois, Dylan has been selflessly serving his country in the US Army since he enlisted in August of 2008. Dylan was born on Veterans Day, November 11th, 1987 and started playing hockey at the age of four. “I want to make a difference,” Dylan told OHT so it is no surprise that he enlisted right after graduating from Althoff Catholic High School.

Dylan’s Military Occupational Specialties include Infantry US Army- Old Ironside, 1-36th Infantry, as well as Alpha Co stationed in Fort Bliss El Paso, TX. He has also done several Tours of Duty; his first being from 2009-2010 serving for Operation Iraqi Freedom and then serving for Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan from 2012-2013 (his current assignment).

Along with an extensive military background, Dylan has acquired multiple accolades. He has been awarded the Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, three Army Commendation Medals, one Army Achievement, Warrior Leadership Course, Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) Professional Development, NCO of the National Training Center Rotation, NCO of the Month, Iraq Campaign, Afghanistan Campaign, and a Good Conduct medal.

Operation Hat Trick would like to thank Sergeant Dylan Matthew Pierce, as well as all the other brave men and women fighting for this country, for everything he has done. You can help support our nation’s warriors by purchasing an OHT hat from your favorite college or university or from your favorite MiLB or AHL/ECHL hockey teams.
